Although I obviously want Harper to be healthy - her being a bit under the weather is making it easier on my jacked up back. She's taking longer naps and just wants to snuggle her mommy... Poor princess!
Biofreeze and muscle relaxers have saved me today! Joey and I are settling in for the night, watching/catching up on Dexter!

Not the best start to the New Year...
Well it's 2013, and hopefully we've gotten all of the bad things out of our system for the year...
I took 2 weeks off of work to care for Pat, who had a total knee replacement 12/28/12. She was released from the hospital on 12/31/12. She's been doing fabulously! I am so proud of her and am so happy that she will soon be pain free and back to her activities! However, Joey caught that nasty virus that has been going around town - and passed it to me. Somehow, through good hand washing??, I did not pass the cold to Pat!
On Thursday, I can't tell you how, I strained a muscle in my back and it has me laid up. I've never hurt my back like this before, now I know how people with back problems feel :( Tramadol, ibuprofen and ice is the story of my life for the last 2 days. I must await Monday to make an appointment with my doc to see what they can do for me. My guess is, more drugs, ice and rest.
In addition to this world of unwellness, poor Harper caught the virus Joey and I had. She spiked a fever yesterday afternoon and has just been miserable. All she's wanted is to have her blanket and her mommy. Which doesn't bode too well as I can't bend over to pick the poor child up :( Joey has been fabulous at helping with everything, we are so blessed! Poor Harper woke up at 0300 this morning, with a fever of 103.3, she and I were both crying :( She's never been this sick and miserable before, stuffy noses here and there, mild fevers and achey ears, but nothing like this. It's funny how I work with kids who are, at times, on the brink of death, and I can hold it together. But when my little girl is sick I feel so badly, its just so strange. It shows the amount of emotional restraint I apparently have when I'm at work.
Anyway.... Joey and I have The Hunger Games on TV, Harper just had some ibuprofen and is napping again. Lucy the bulldog, as always, is in and out of napping posted up on her spot on our couch. Oooh, and there's a fire going that Joey built :)

Update!
So I suppose I should get everyone up to speed here, even though I'm sure you all know what's going on since you know me in real life. This is only for the continuity of my blog, haha!
Harper Grace Channell was born August 11, 2011 at 1910. 8# 6.7 oz and 21 in tall! I had a wonderful labor and delivery, induced at 39 5/7 wks, started pitocin at 1000, got my epidural at 1300, took a nap, woke up around 1830 complete (10cm), waited for Dr. Steinhauer (my OBGYN) to arrive, pushed for 20 minutes, and delivered our Harper without incident!
We lost our precious Yorkie Callie in a horrible accident in the street, she was hit by a car. At 3 #, she wasn't big enough to survive. I said goodbye to her in my arms, still makes me tear up :(
I made the difficult decision to hangup my stethoscope as a NICU RN. After nearly 8 years in the NICU, I said goodbye to many wonderful individuals who have been with my through many ups and downs and through my growth in the healthcare profession. I did this in order to work in the adult ICU to gain experience for my application to CRNA school....
Joey, Harper and I moved to a new home on 8/7/12. We sold the house on Poppleton Ave, and all left all of the bad memories there, and took all of the good memories with us to our new home. We are in the Westside school disctrict which is ideal for when Harper starts school! We have a huge yard for Lucy to roam as she wishes, without the worry of traffic. Callie would have loved this house!
Joey and I celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary on 8/27/12. <3
On November 6 2012, I was accepted into the CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) Program at Clarkson College here in Omaha. I will start the program full time this fall (August 2013). At that time I will be leaving my position as a staff nurse in the PICU to focus all of my time on my studies.
I think we're up to speed.....
